Power flushing a central heating system is part of regular maintenance. A power flush should be completed every 5 years approximately. It is a process that must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer for safety.

The engineers at Blueline Energy are accredited to complete power flushes in North Wales, Cheshire, and Merseyside. We have the latest equipment to get the job done correctly, quickly, and fuss-free.

Call us if you think your central heating needs a chemical flush.

What is a power flush?

A power flush cleans the inside of your central heating system. It’s a cleansing of the pipes and radiators where the hot water circulates. The process is carried out using special chemicals that loosen debris, dirt, and dust particles that build up inside the heating system.

Pumps then remove the loosened debris and dirty water replacing the system with clean water. It takes around half a day to complete depending on the number of radiators on the property.

Why is a power flush necessary?

With central heating regularly in use, the inside slowly accumulates a build-up of rust particles and sludge. The sludge prevents the hot water in the system from circulating freely. The more sludge builds up, the less efficiently your heating works. The boiler has to work harder to warm the rooms and this can raise energy bills. The build-up doesn’t happen quickly, but a power flush roughly every 5 years will correct the problem.

These problems could be solved with a chemical flush. Contact the team here to discuss your issues. We can let you know if a flush will help or if there is another reason for the problems you are experiencing.

There are signs that your central heating system is due to a power flush. The most common signs to look out for are:
  • Cold areas on the radiators
  • Noises coming from the radiators
  • The boiler runs for longer to reach the required temperature
  • Bleeding the radiators isn’t effective

Before having a brand new boiler installed to an existing central heating system it’s essential to power flush the radiators. That way, the water passing through the new boiler is clean. It will prolong the life of the boiler and make your heating more efficient.

The price of power flushing your heating system could be cheaper than you think. With a more efficient system, your energy bills should reduce and your boiler will last longer. Get in touch to arrange a power flush with us.
